Dr Mike AllenDr Mike Allen
Executive Chairman of ReEx Capital Asia

With a background in engineering, Dr Mike Allen spent over 25 years involved in the geothermal and clean energy industry undertaking project developments in Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. In 1995 he was appointed Executive Director of E+Co, a US based fund established with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation. E+Co provides business development services and seed capital for the promotion of renewable energy in emerging economies.

Since 2002 he has worked as an independent consultant on energy finance and has been Finance Advisor to the Vienna based Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP). He has represented REEEP in a wide range of international forums focused on improving access to finance for clean energy developments.  He is a member of the REEEP Steering Committee for its Australasian and Pacific activities and a member of the Steering Committee for the Asian Development Bank E4ALL initiative.

In 2006 he was instrumental in establishing ReEx Capital Asia with the support of the REEEP and DEG (German Development Bank). 

He has recently been engaged by a leading EPC contractor in New Zealand to advise on the risk management aspects of a large scale local geothermal development; he is advising the IFC (World Bank) on its participation in a $150m geothermal development in Djibouti; he is supporting the IFC Advisory Services in developing a mandate with the Government of Ethiopia for the first IPP (geothermal) installation; he is undertaking  a review of the business activities of an imbedded ESCO operation within a New Zealand utility to determine its future direction and ownership. 

 

Frederic CrampéFrédéric Crampé
Managing Director of ReEx Capital Asia

Frédéric Crampé is Managing Director of ReEx Capital Asia, a business advisory boutique based in Singapore, specializing in the Asia Pacific Clean Energy sector, offering consulting and investment banking type services. He is raising funds (debt/equity) for renewable energy infrastructure, biofuel production facilities, energy efficiency projects and green energy products/services companies.

Frédéric is also a director of a Philippines-based energy services company, chairman of the finance committee and council member of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore and member of the Steering Committee for the Asian Development Bank’s “Energy For All” initiative.
He started his career in the US working at Caltech and NASA in the Satellite Earth Observation Department (studying natural disasters and climate change) before being appointed Head of Business Development for a European Environmental Engineering Services company.

Frédéric has an MBA from the INSEAD Business School with a concentration in Finance and Private Equity. He initially graduated from SUPAERO, a top engineering school in France with a Master in Aerospace Engineering and MSc. in Geophysics. Frédéric is also currently going through the Singapore Certified Energy Management Training Program.

Paul van Aalst is Director of E+Co Europe. E+Co is a public purpose investment company for clean energy enterprises in developing countries. He focuses on scaling up E+Co�s investment activities such as via developing investment funds and affiliates in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Over the last 15 years Paul has been involved in designing and developing sustainable investment vehicles in The Netherlands and elsewhere. He has been an advisor in the field of sustainable investing and strategy to various international corporations, public organizations and financial institutions. Mr. van Aalst holds a degree in Business Economics and is a Certified Management Consultant.

 

Mark FogartyIngemar Anderson

Ingemar Anderson has financed energy projects in Asia for over 15 years as regional head of ABB Structured Finance and head of origination for GE Energy Financial Services in Asia. He is Managing Director of Asia Consulting and Investment Group Ltd (ACIG) with main focus on supporting overseas investors with origination, credit assessment and financial closing of renewable and traditional energy projects. His experience from financing renewable energy projects includes hydro power plants in China and the Philippines, wind farms in Australia and China, biomass projects in the Philippines and most recently he completed a debt investment in a bio diesel plant in Indonesia for Nordkap Bank AG, Switzerland.

 

Mark FogartyMark Fogarty

Mr Fogarty has been at the forefront of the commercial development of renewable energy in Australia and has an international profile and contacts in new energy developments with considerable experience in Australia, China and the Asia Pacific Region. Mark Fogarty is CEO and Director at Greenbank Capital. Greenbank Capital facilitates innovation in Sustainable Energy and Water. Mr Fogarty is Investment Advisor to CVC REEF and Senior Consultant to Asia Carbon. Mr Fogarty was Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority focused on reducing greenhouse gases by investing in and commercialising new sustainable energy technologies. He graduated with LLM and MBA degrees. Mr Fogarty has a keen understanding of government policy and holds and has held senior positions in the renewable energy industry including: Founder, CEO and Director Greenbank Capital, Chairman of the Australian Sustainable Energy Roundtable, Chairman Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) Steering Committee Asia Pacific . Board Member and Director Renewable Energy Generators Association, Board Member and Director Australian Centre for Environmental Law - University of Sydney Law School.

Paul Heinemann is Vice President in the Asia Department of DEG- German Investment and Development Corporation. As one of the largest European development finance institutions, DEG has been financing and structuring the investments of private companies in developing and emerging countries for more than 40 years. With the mandate to foster sustainable economic development, financing renewable energy as well as energy efficiency projects today are of high strategic relevance for DEG. After more than eight years in the structured finance division of DEG within the Agribusiness team, Paul is now concentrating on project origination in Asia with a special focus on renewable energy projects. Prior to DEG he started his career in product management of machinery and equipment. Paul holds a degree in Engineering and has a MBA from European School of Business in Reutlingen/Germany.

Mr Edwin T.F. Khew is one of Asia’s leading sustainable energy entrepreneurs and is a major force in shaping Singapore’s Sustainable Energy strategy as a nominated parliamentarian and advisor to the Prime Minister of Singapore on sustainable energy. Edwin is the CEO/Managing Director of IUT Global Pte Ltd, a global environmental waste technology and management company with its headquarters in Singapore. He is also currently the chairman of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), the chairman of the Singapore Association of Environmental Occupational Health and Safety Companies (SAFECo) and the President of the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa). Mr Khew recently retired as the Executive Director of Vivendi Universal Asia Pacific, the largest environmental multi-services engineering company in the world and the second largest communication and media company worldwide with an annual turn over in excess of US$50 billion. He has an Executive MBA from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer in Singapore, a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Singapore, a Chartered Chemical Engineer in the Institute of Chemical Engineers (United Kingdom) and a Chartered Professional Engineer in the Institute of Engineers Australia. Mr Khew is also active in Singapore serving on various boards, institutions, associations, government and non-government committees including being the Chairman of GS1 Singapore Council and the Chemical Hazards Committee under the Ministry of Manpower.

 

Marc StuartMarc Stuart

Marc Stuart co-founded EcoSecurities in 1997 and has 15 years experience of international business development experience in carbon markets across more than 30 countries.  With offices in 16 countries, EcoSecurities is a globally leading developer of greenhouse gas reduction projects and is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange. Marc is currently Director of New Business Development and also heads up the firms Government and Regulatory Affairs Group, providing the firms positions within the evolving policy and regulatory processes of the UN, EU, US and elsewhere. 

He sits on the Board of the International Emissions Trading Associations (IETA) and is the Chair of IETA’s Project Developers Working Group.  Outside the compliance carbon market, he is on the Board of the Voluntary Carbon Standard Association and co-chairs the VCS’s Forestry and Land-Use Projects working group.  He was one of the founders of the US based Coalition for Emission Reduction Projects (USCERP) and sits on the Advisory Boards of ReEx Capital Asia and Ecosystem Marketplace.com.  In January of 2009, he was named one of 30 “Green Heroes” by CNBC European Business magazine. 

Marc has written extensively on a variety of aspects around the emergent GHG emission regime and is a frequent speaker and interview subject on global emissions trading and project based emissions reductions.  He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, the London School of Economics and the Claremont Graduate University.
